It is an unusual vantage point, and it is the whole basis of this work. I have watched capable, well prepared people misread that table and lose, and others read it correctly and win. The difference is almost never the quality of the business.
Over a decade on the inside, not adjacent to it.
Most advice about the Gulf is written by people who have visited it. Mine comes from having lived inside its decisions.
I came to the Gulf more than a decade ago, partnered with a member of one of Qatar's leading families, building and operating businesses across technology and investment. What began as commercial work became something rarer. Trusted from inside the family, I was drawn into the decisions that sit closest to a principal: weighing investments, sitting on boards, advising on matters that are never handed to outsiders. That trust spread, by reputation, to other families and offices across the GCC.

I have sat on the side of the table most people spend their careers trying to reach.
Why I Do This Now
For years I was the person quietly explaining, after the meeting, why the answer had been no.
In time it became clear that this was the most valuable thing I did. So I made it the work. Today founders, companies, and family offices retain me for exactly that judgement: to see what they cannot, and to position them inside decisions they would otherwise misread.
